3 Reasons You Should Call an Emergency Plumber

    March 1, 2018

Calling a plumber is something that no one wants to have to do, especially in an emergency. But there are sometimes when you want to call an emergency plumber. Below are three reasons why you want to call a plumber right away.

    1. A Water Pipe Bursts’

Usually, having a water pipe burst will be a good reason to call a plumber, no matter what time it is. But is there a way that you can tell that you have a water pipe that has burst?

If you’re noticing a flood on your basement’s floor, beneath those exposed basement pipes, or you’re noticing water seeping through your home’s wall usually that means that you have a burst pipe.

Another way that you can pretty much tell that your pipe has burst is that you turn on one of your faucets and no water is coming out. If you’re noticing one of these things, chances are one of the pipes in your home is burst. Before you do anything else, find your main valve. This usually is found at the place where your water is entering your house. It’s usually easy to find in the majority of basements. If you’re on a concrete slab, chances are that they’re found in your utility room with your furnace, dryer, and washer. Turn that valve off and then call the plumber.

    2. Clogged Toilets

For most people, this is an emergency. When you first look at that, you may not think that it’s a big problem but you’ll have to use the bathroom whether your toilet is clogged. When you have a lot of people living in your home, it’s going to be an even bigger problem. Even those homes with multiple toilets there is a danger that the backup can be made worse when you flush. Turn off the valve for your toilet with the clog and then call the plumber.

    3. Gas Leaks

Even though we think of plumbers to fix problems such as stopped drains, clogged toilets, and leaky faucets, they also are involved with natural gas furnace connections and copper pipes. Make sure that you’re having the heat in your home inspected professionally each year to help with preventing carbon monoxide or gas leaks. Gas leaks are definitely plumbing emergencies which mean you have to call the plumber immediately.

When you are dealing with problems with your plumbing, you want to err on the side of caution. A lot of people hesitate to call a plumber regardless of the circumstances, however, this can be seen as having little regard for yourself and your family. Try caring for the problem quickly before the problem becomes worse.

There is even a bigger need to call a plumber if you can’t turn off the valve, if you’re old, or if you can’t get to safety if gas is leaking. If this is a situation that you’re in, you have to think about your safety. Vacate your house or get in touch with someone who can help you, then go to their house. Call one of the emergency plumbers and they can help you in solving the problem.
